Their Memory Deserves More Than a Memory

Dear Friend,

There are people we would give anything to speak with one more time.

A parent. A grandparent. A spouse. A sibling. A dear friend.

We cannot bring back yesterday. But Judaism gives us something extraordinarily meaningful that we can still do for those we love.

We can remember them. We can honor them. We can give tzedakah in their memory. And we can make sure their names continue to be spoken with love and dignity.

This year, as we prepare our Yizkor Memorial Book, I invite you to include the names of the people who helped make you who you are.

Don’t let another Yizkor pass without doing something in their memory.

A Yizkor dedication is more than a name printed in a book. It is a statement that this person mattered. That their life left an imprint. That although they are no longer physically with us, the goodness they brought into this world continues through us.

Perhaps there is someone whose name you haven’t included before.

Perhaps there is someone you think about every day.

Perhaps this is the year to simply say:

I remember you. I honor you. You are still part of my life.
